Oldest Kampala city pothole turns 18

The heart of Kampala has a pothole that happened to have turned 18 years yesterday and a grand birthday party was made in its honor by the city authorities. It was tastefully decorated, followed by a procession led by a school band to mark this historic occasion. It was as well awarded a Heroes day medal and assurance by government of its security.

Speaking on the occasion, a senior official said ,”We have always tried to support our potholes as much as possible but they don’t survive long enough to enter adulthood. When some VVIP visits the city, we sometimes have to quickly kill the deepest visible ones to make sure the VVIP doesn’t get to see them. Fortunately, nobody important has visited this panya road during the past 2 decades so it has successfully managed to enter adulthood. This particular one of them all is our greatest pride as i speak”

Furthermore, “It is the pride of Kampala City because nothing defines us like the potholes on our roads and it is tribute to our work culture that we have managed to preserve this particular one for the last 18 years now. We have thousands of them all over the city and this one is the grandfather of them all in some ways. In fact, no one at KCCA has been in office as long as this pothole. It is a very unique pothole”

Our reporter had a one-on-one with the pothole and it expressed relief and joy on turning 18 years. “I am extremely happy and would like to dedicate this award to all my innocent siblings who have lost their lives due to the overzealous honest KCCA road contractors. May their soul rest in peace. My prayer is that the city officials leave me to grow pakalast”, it said, filled with water tears of joy.

Meanwhile, pothole breeding experts have predicted that the pothole is likely to breed during the rainy season and we are likely to see a number of baby potholes appear around this pothole during the next few months.

Government has dismissed rumours that they plan to kill the pothole any time soon and unreliable sources within KCCA have assured KiwaniPost that a grand Silver Jubilee of the pothole will be celebrated as long as opposition politicians stay away from this road during the next 7 years.
